I remember when I was growing up that the bank would give suckers to kids. My guess is they did this to keep the kids quiet while the parents conducted their bank business. Pretty smart of them I'd say. But that's the only business I remember giving away freebies to kiddos. Here in our little town the bank gives away stickers and the grocery store gives away suckers. Fortunately for Kenzie we visited both of these places today. That's a good day for a 2 year old. Too bad we didn't stop by the hardware store, which, by the way, doubles as a general store of sorts, or the sheriff's office because they give away suckers too. Actually City Hall and the County Treasurer's office give away suckers too. I guess we live in a town full of freebies for kiddos. And Kenzie remembers all of this too. She always knows where she can ask for a sucker or sticker and of course since she's so dang cute they can't resist giving one to her.
Kenzie is too cute! She says "bye" to a show when it ends. I just had "Ellen" on in the background. It ended and Kenzie started waving and saying, "Bye Ellen, bye!" She's done this for the Wiggles, the Doodlebops, Scrubs, Friends and a few other shows. (Man, we must watch too much tv...note to self, find a play group)
I know I complain a lot about living in the boonies, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. People say I'll look back on this time fondly. That may be so, but while looking back fondly I probably won't be wishing to be back here. I miss my civilization. I'm so excited to get away to "civilization" this weekend. We'll be going to a city I've never been to before that has about 28,500 people (according to some site I just found on Google). They have stores, real stores, ones that lots of people have heard of. I get to go to TARGET!!! Time to buy some winter clothes for the girls. The only clothing store in town is a thrift/used store and I swear it's closed whenever I walk by. I know this new town (well, new to me) isn't really big, but it's ginormous compared to here.
Josie is becoming a wonderful sleeper. After a few nights of about six hours stretches of sleep she had a night with a couple three hour stretches and then went back to six last night. I can handle that. It will help my sanity. Kenzie has woken up a lot during the night lately, that hasn't been so fun, but last night she slept all night...yay!
I've been bored lately. Have you noticed? This blog has been full of so much lately. I found sponsered blogging, which is nice. But I think I need to be careful with what I do. I've been reading the boards and I don't want my lack of education of the blogging world to come back to bite me in the bum. I may have done too much. I don't know. But I love that there's an opportunity to make money while staying home with my little squirts.
I also started a new blog. I never knew there were so many contests out there for bloggers and I've had fun entering them. I even won a book on one (go me!). I've also seen some fun things on blogs and read some interesting stuff. So I decided to start a new blog that showcases some of these things. Sure it's now, has a page rank of 0 and all, but it can grow. And people love linky love, so if I find something I like I'll link to them. I'm all about bringing people up if they're doing something I like. It's linked in my sidebar, go check it out. (please)
Is it bad, or maybe just weird, that I'm already looking forward to Christmas? This will be the first time in a couple years that we've had our own place and I can decorate. I'm excited for that. And we've figured out what to get Kenzie and I can hardly wait. We're getting her a play kitchen, still researching which one. She'll love it! She's gravitated to the play kitchens at all the church nurseries she's ever been to. My mom is going to get her some fake food and dishes and such. She's going to be in heaven! And it will be nice for Josie too as she gets older. Also, this will give her more motivation to play in her room and mess the living room up less...or so I hope.
I've gotten into shopping online more lately too. We've gotten some good deals on eBay...I forgot how much I like that place.
Ok, that's about it. That is what's in my head today and now it's out. Have a good one!

When Jakey was born we had just moved to a REALLY small town, probably more the size of the one you're going to this weekend, but still it felt SO SMALL. I could NOT stand it! I only made it a few months out there, I just couldn't handle how tiny the town was. Now I wish I had stuck it out a bit because i think the smaller town would have been better for my kids when they started school.
This town is waaaaaaaaay too small. Only about 1000 people. All the teenagers around here do is drink. I don't want my kids growing up like that. Plus there are no dance classes or anything. I want to put Kenzie in dance because everytime music comes on she starts dancing. A town like the one we're going to would be better. We're hoping to end up near Pueblo someday.
You can always reach out to your fellow blogging moms. I'm here bored at times in a big city. Feel free to chat w/ me!
Angie :)
I so feel you on small townness. We have to travel at least an hour and a half to reach stores like Old navy Target and whatnots. Our clostest Cell phone provider Verizon is 2 hrs away. I can't wait till we move to some place bigger.
I seriously can't wrap my brain around a town that small. Yay for Target! So is the payU2blog paying really? Enough to make it worth it?
Yay for sleep! And for cute toddlers. Seems crazy to me that you have two kids!
I',, have to check out your new blog. Suckers at all those places? My bank gives other stuff too. One time it was small balls lol, but I think suckers will always be there. My kids like the library because they have suckers.
I remember people various times in my life telling me to "enjoy this time, you will look back on it fondly" I then would tell my husband "lets remember when we start to reminisce fondly, that this really was bad, and that we are lucky to be away from it." So far it has worked, I have no desire to go back to being a poor college student!
Hahahahahaha...too funny! Yeah, I'm glad we're not poor college students anymore either. Sure, it was great being newlyweds and all, but I like my husband being employeed and me staying home with two cute kiddos. I just wish I were staying home in a bigger place. LOL! Thanks for your comment!
Small towns can be wonderful places to raise your children! I do hope you'll enjoy it - it always helps to look for the positives :)
You mentioned sponsored blogging - I'm new to the blogging world, too. Tell me more about that if you could (since you're so bored, and all :)
There's PayU2Blog and PayPerPost...click on the icons in my sidebar to get to the sites. PayU2Blog is easier, but doesn't pay as much. You include a specified link in your regular blogging. PayPerPost you are basically writing blog ads that relate to your site. Kind of hard to explain, but check it out!
It's not weird that you are excited for Christmas. For some strange reason I am insanely excited for Halloween this year. I can not get enough pumpkins in my house and I'm not usually a big Halloween person. Maybe it coincides with the end of pregnancy.
