This week I've decided my Thursday Thirteen is going to be thirteen things I like about the holidays. Can I really narrow it down to thirteen?1. All the pretty lights, on trees or houses or anywhere.
2. The yummy, albeit fattening, treats. A trip to the grocery store is deadly these days, even to our little tiny grocery store. I think they all collaborate against me and figure out which specific treats will tempt me and stock my store up with those. LOL!
3. Hot chocolate and hot cider...yummy! Perfect for warming up from the frigid cold.
4. All the fun holiday movies on t.v., they bring back so many childhood memories.
5. Snowmen decorations everywhere...I LOVE snowmen decorations!
6. Being able to give gifts to others, I really like giving things to others.
7. This year I love my daughter's excitement as she's starting to figure out this whole holiday thing. She's just too dang cute!
8. Family get togethers. This year there won't be big ones, but my mom will be here for a week that includes Christmas day. And when we take her back to Denver to fly home Josh's mom will be flying in and we'll do a second Christmas with both our moms, Josh's brother and his wife and maybe some of their (adult) kids. Then both his parents will be at our place for New Years. So it should be a lot of fun and Kenzie will be in heaven...she LOVES her grandparents.
9. Dressing my girls up in festive dresses.
10. Getting Christmas cards and letters.
11. Using the cold as an excuse to stay inside in jammie bottoms and sweatshirts and cuddle up with my kiddos or my wonderful husband.
12. I like the prettiness of snow...hate the cold and wet and scary driving part of it.
13. Finally, I love the reminder to be grateful for Jesus and all He's done for everyone.

For me it's the chance to revisit the past through traditions. I'm not just watching a movie or trimming a tree, I'm thinking back to other times I've done the same.
(Sorry I linked to you twice!)
Christmas cards. Ugh. I forgot I had to do those. Here I was, thinking I was done! Thanks for the reminder! :)
That's a nice, seasonal list. I love an excuse to snuggle up under my furry throw, and eat chocolate! Happy TT.
My list of thirteen bizarre phobias is up at Siani's Pot-Pourri.
I love the holidays. I could so be Mrs. Claus and live with decorations all year through. I am so glad that there are others like me. Perhaps we need a "Christmasanonymous" =-) Love it

This is a great list. I love the holidays for many reasons, several of which you listed and others that grow and expand each year.
Thanks for the visit and the thoughts your own list brought. :)

I totally agree with 12. Miss the prettiness of the snow or snow covered trees in the a.m with the sun hitting them, but I DO NOT miss the cold! Great TT!
Love love love your list!!! You're so cute!!

#7 is the best. I love seing how excited the children are about Christmas. Last year my daughter couldn't stop telling EVERYBODY that Father Christmas was coming. It was so funny.
This is the first year that my son has been so excited so early about the holidays.
Happy TT and thanks for stopping by.
Your list is terrific. I love all those things too. I love the holidays.

Great list. I especially agree with you on #6. I LOVE giving gifts. Of course, I like getting them, too, but I can honestly say, I really love giving them more.
Thanks for visiting my TT!
Wonderful list! It really put me in the Christmas spirit. Memories are really one of the nicest things about Christmas!
Thanks for stopping by my TT!
Oh it's been so cold!! I know it's even colder where you are. I tend to just pout - not cuddling here all pouting! ;)
I'm with you on all thirteen! Blessings...
Snowmen are really good things. I hope this winter, you and the little one get to build lots of them.

This was a great list :) It really helped to put me in the holiday spirit. I'm sure Christmas with children is even more exciting than to the rest of us :) Hope you all have a great one and thanks for commenting on my Thursday Thirteen.
I hate to drive in the snow too. My car is like a sled. But snow is still pretty to look at, too bad where I'm at, it usually doesn't fall until January. Thanks for stopping by.
What a lovely list! I agree with all 13!! I am not quite ready for winter. Holidays yes...winter no. Happy TT
That IS a great list. It may help even me (a Scrooge) get into the holiday spirit. :-) Happy TT and thanks for stopping by my blog.
Christmas Cards???? I really need to get started.
Thanks for stopping by -- wish you had left a vote/comment on my Coulda Woulda Shoulda NaBloPoMo Edition.
Great list. I like snow too, to look at, but not to walk and drive in.

The last time we visited my mom at Christmas, we had the perfect snow situation: it started snowing the day after we arrived (long drive: Texas to Michigan), and didn't stop until the day before we left. We had all the beautiful snow, and the kids got to make snowmen and have snowball fights, and we didn't have the worry and hassle of driving it it. :)
Happy holidays, sorry I'm late.
Natalie,
I love it...that's a great list. I LOVE BEING ABLE to give gifts to others. That's what Christmas is about...but you know my children have SOOOOO MUCH...I'M trying to figure out how their Christmas this year is just to give to the poor on Christmas.
Thanks for visiting my magic quotes TT last week. Sorry I’m late with my return visit; I got the flu.:-(
