I have a friend on a mommy board I belong to that had a tragedy hit her family in early 2007. Sadly, it may possibly have been prevented with something that is so very small...a Combination Carbon Monoxide/Combustible Gas Detector. You see, my friend's sister-in-law/best friend was killed when her house exploded due to a gas leak. You can read about it here. Had there been a combination carbon monoxide/combustible gas detector in the home they would have known that gas levels were dangerous. This device is only about $50, but it is an investment that many don't know about. Please help spread the word about this cause and the website Detectors Save Lives. You may just save someone's life.

Illinois had passed a law the beginning of 2007 requiring these devices in homes. I think if people realized that they simply plug in to an electrical outlet and don't require any difficult installation, they'd be more apt to go out and get one.
We had put one in our home just before we sold it. We need to get one in our new house.
Thanks for stopping by. By the way, for whatever reason, my EC is working perfectly fine now, no thanks to anything I did or didn't do! :-D
This story was so sad and to re-read it again just breaks my heart. I didn't realize they had detectors for combustible gas. I'm seriously gonna go try and find one and get it. We have a plug in Carbon Monoxide one now. It's worth way more than even 50$ to have a detector for the combustible gas. Thank you for sharing this with me. My heart goes out to this family as they continue to have to deal with this horrible tragedy.
Oh wow, I didn't even know there was such a thing, we have the carbon monoxide detectors, but this looks like something that should be an added.
Thanks
We have these - wouldn't do without them!
Hope you've had a good weekend - Kellan
