I recently stumbled onto a dvd that was specifically created for 3-6 year olds called Our First Journey, presented by On Butterfly Wings. Being the mom of a 3 1/2 year old I was interested. When I popped it into the dvd player for the first time my daughter was entranced. I swear she didn't even move a muscle during the whole 28 minutes. She then asked to watch it again...and again. Even my 14 month old got into it today when we popped it in again after preschool. She was dancing around shaking her little diaper bum.Our First Journey takes your little ones on a journey of imagination as the children on the screen travel around and have adventures. Your little ones will even learn a little about our environment and fun ways they can take care of it.
The idea for this dvd came from the creator's own daughter who is naturally curious and flits from activity to activity just like a butterfly. Their hope with this dvd is to create an awareness in young minds of the positive differences they can make in our world.
Our First Journey retails for $15.95 and can be purchased at the On Butterfly Wings website, where you can also view a trailer of the film. $1 of each dvd purchase is donated to The Nature Conservancy. And a feature on the dvd that I can see coming in handy is the continuous play option. We live pretty far in the boonies so when we travel anywhere we take the portable dvd player. My daughter loves watching the same dvd over and over (she's crazy, I know). A continuous play option will save me from having to try to start the dvd over again when I can't even see the dvd player.
One lucky Red Sox Mommy reader will win a copy of Our First Journey and some packages of wildflower seeds that when grown attract butterflies. All you have to do is visit On Butterfly Wings and then come back here and tell me something they say about the environment or tell me something about the Nature Conservancy.

Lots! Even a small step such as recycling your plastic bottles can help reduce waste incredibly. Did you know that it takes more than 1000 years for a regular plastic bottle to biodegrade? Don't bury it...recycle or reuse it!

I will begin a separate bin for plastic bottles (separate from our regular recyclables) so that new little daughter will be able to put her water bottles in it. Just for her and her size as it takes 1000 years to break down.
Thanks!

Here's one that I learned "Small changes make big differences." If everyone just made one small change imagine what a big difference that would make?

Protecting plants and animals from out litter can make a big difference. I'm thinking this video may even help them learn to pick up at home. Keep it clean. Would love to win.

Christina - xristya@rock.com - On Butterfly Wings believes in the interconnectedness of all living things, and so teaches both recycling and the importance of plant life. Their video music is very bright and I can see why children would love it, along with the fact that kids are the actors and are in constant and energetic movement!

I wanted something different to prove I went to the site and wasn't just copying from someone else. But it looks like the content is well covered.
