I've made an effort this year to get back into reading. I used to be a huge reader and finally I'm starting to feel like my old self again with all the reading I've been doing. So when the lovely ladies at Parent Reviewers gave me the opportunity to read One Fifth Avenue by Candace Bushnell I jumped at the opportunity. I had just read an interview with the author in a magazine so the book was already on my radar. Plus, I've seen the t.v. edited versions of Sex and the City, based off the novel by Bushnell, so I figured I'd enjoy it.I did enjoy the book, although it's definitely something for adults only. Bushnell took a slew of characters and threw the reader into their lives and goings on. Everyone was connected somehow from the ancient Mrs. Houghton to Lola, the spoiled brat from Atlanta. As you read you discover these connections and what makes each character click.
While I didn't personally relate to any of the characters in the book, seriously they're all in New York City and I'm a suburban girl stuck in a small town, I still really enjoyed discovering a world far from any I've ever known. Bushnell's vivid descriptions make you feel like you're almost there.
