When I was a kid I was always excited to get a Lunchables meal. It wasn't a common occurrence, but just enough that they were always a treat. I remember my mom working on the Miss Utah pageant every year. Which meant I was dragged from place to place as she got things ready. This was, probably still is, a HUGE pageant, so it was held over the course of a few days. I remember we were always one of the first ones there and the last to leave. It was times like these that I would get a Lunchables meal. Now as a mom, looking back I'm sure my mom got them for me because she was stressed and in a hurry. But I remember thinking it was so awesome that I got them. They definitely helped me feel less bored being at a grown up event and only being a child.
Until Mom Central told me about the new healthier varieties of Lunchables I hadn't thought about them in a few years. In fact, my four year old had never had one before. I know...what the heck, right? I have happy memories of them, why haven't I given them to her? That situations has now been rectified times two.
As I took my coupon to the store to get my Lunchables meal I felt a little bit like a kid again. Only this time the selection was much bigger! With the new varieties you can choose more than just crackers and cheese. I finally settled on the Ham & American Sub Sandwich. It came complete with fat free mayo, a bottle of water with a fruit punch flavoring pouch, a couple chewy chocolate chip cookies and some sugar free J-ello. Did you catch all that? It was a LOT of food all for one small price. And...it was healthier than I expected, with the water and fat free/sugar free items. Awesome!
My daughter thought it was such a cool meal that we bought a couple more Lunchables when we went to the store on Saturday. And you know what? They made a totally convenient meal for my girls after church yesterday.
These new Lunchables come in so many tasty varieties. In addition to the Ham & American Sub we tried you can choose: Turkey & Cheddar Sub, Turkey & Cheddar Cracker Combos, Ham & American Cracker Combos, Deep Dish Cheese Pizza and Deep Dish Pepperoni Pizza. They all come with fun sides like the one we had including Cheese Nips, Nilla Wafers and more. Yum!
I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central on behalf of Oscar Mayer Lunchables and received a sample to facilitate my candid review. In addition, Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.

I must admit, I promised myself I would be the "cool mom" that puts a soda and lunchables in the field trip lunches, because that is what I remember most!
Not only are you "cool," the kids are eating healthier, too! That's awesome! Now, if only my son would try some lunch meat. We're still stuck on mac and cheese and chicken fingers. It's such drama!!!
BTW, I really enjoy your blog. I am following you. :)
You know, I saw the coupon for this in the Sunday paper and when I went food shopping, I could not find them. I wonder if they're in all stores yet?
@StaceyC4 That's strange...I found them at Wal-Mart if that helps. I didn't even check our local store because we're in a semi-rural town and the selection is bad all the time for anything. I hope you can find them soon!
@Theta Mom Thank you! I've been enjoying your blog too!
@Vicki I bet your kids love having the "cool mom!"
my girls always wanted to be "luncheable kinds of kids", but I have always been hesitant because of how unhealthy they are. This would really change my mind though because those are the kinds of things i pack in my kids lunch. Thanks for the heads up.
