I'm not quite wordless this week...sorry! This is a light fixture in our "new" house. It's located in a shoebox sized bedroom and it's HUGE, HIDEOUS and HEINOUS! I'm pretty sure it's original to the home...and this is a 43 year old house. This light is also VERY dirty...it will be cleaned shortly...but hopefully in the next few months we can afford to get a nice, modern and stylish fixture to replace it. I'm not sure how long I'm going to be able to stand looking at it. Lol!

Maybe just try not to look up. I'll trade you my pretty light fixtures for your new house LOL. I am dying to move but that isn't going to happen any time soon. Happy WW!
Oh dear!! That's definitely interesting!
Haha. We've got some ugly ones in our new house too. The hall light for us is the worst. It's like an office light. Very strange. Good luck changing it. :)
Looks like a UFO ship to me :)
Time to update house fixtures ;)
Happy WW!
Meet George Jetson ;) Funny how futuristic can be so old school and dated.
I have a few atrocities in my home as well. But wow!
That's pretty bad. The absolute worst I ever saw though was the filthy dirty MACRAME hanging fixture that was smack dab in the middle of the living room of our house when we bought it. I shudder at the mere memory. Darn thing would die, either. I ended up having to cut it to pieces to take it down.
keep it... what a conversation piece!
That doesn't look too bad, but then I don't have to look at it every day like you do.
It doesn't look like a bad fixture just NOT in a small bedroom. Can you switch it out with a fixture from a different room for now? Happy WW!

One word: IKEA. LOL! Inexpensive light fixtures to replace all old New England trend mistakes! HA! (I know this because I had to do it in my old house!)
I think it is pretty awesome!
Ohh, that is really "something". I think we have all been there. LOL
LOL! We had some ugly light fixtures when we first moved into our house too. I think its part of your home ownership initiation!
We had a few of those we took down at our house too. We couldn't stand looking at them. UGH!
We replaced a bunch of ours a year or so ago and it looks so much better. Good luck they're a PIA to take down and put up!
I know every house has an ugly thing, but hey we have all been there, the only thing need is some patience untill you get the money, good luck with that...!!! :)
time for a new one. although that could be consider retro:-)Happy WW
It looks like one of those big plastic salad bowls. Oh well, everything can't be perfect, right?
Nat - Lowes has packages with 2 flush mounted ceiling fixtures in brushed nickel, white or bronze for $20. We used them in all the bedrooms and hallways. If dh is handy at all, it is a SUPER easy thing to change. If I lived closer I'd come do it for you!
Light fixture from outer space!
@Daniele - I'll have to check those out. Our realtor gave us a $200 GC to Lowe's at closing (AWESOME!). We were talking about getting light fixtures with it. :) Dh isn't handy in that area...but our home teacher is. He put in 2 ceiling fan/lights the other day. His wife is my VT'er and she said he loves it...it makes him feel manly! :)
Well, you can always look straight.... :D It's not that bad.
