Happy New Year!

I know in many parts of the world it's already 2010, but I still have almost 4 hours of 2009 left here. And I want to wish you all a Happy New Year!

It's so easy to focus on the negative things that life throws at me. 2009 seems like it was full of more negatives than most years, but it definitely had some good times as well. The absolute, number one best thing that happened in 2009 is we moved out of that middle of nowhere, small, isolated, dying town on the eastern plains of Colorado. Our two years there felt like an eternity and I can't believe it's already been 7 months since we left. Time has definitely gone faster since leaving. Or so it's seemed.

Another awesome thing in 2009 is we made some fun friends. We love the area we live in now, it's full of so many friendly and wonderful people. We've had many fun game nights and holidays and date nights with our friends and feel so blessed.

There was also our fun vacation back to New England this summer. That was great! We went to a Red Sox game where they WON (last year they lost...it was my first game at Fenway, it was sad)...not only did they win but it was Beckett's 100th career win, he went all 9 innings, the Royals didn't score any runs, it was my 4 year old's first baseball game...in a word, it was AWESOME!

This next one is both good and bad, but it's definitely a significant event for us in 2009. We bought our first home! It was a foreclosure so it needed a lot of work, as any house from the mid-1960s would. We've put in a lot of elbow grease and time and it's definitely coming along. We've repainted all but one room...and we're getting to that one, it has wallpaper and that's just a nightmare to take down. The negative doesn't come from the remodeling, that's actually kind of fun even if it is time consuming. No, the negative is the plumbing that we dealt with for the first six weeks or so of living here and the dang ginormous tree that's out front that must go, like NOW!

There's no need to focus on the other negatives of 2009, but there's definitely a lot to look forward to in 2010. Here's to having an awesome new year and an awesome new decade!
