The Ultra Dental Water Jet WP-100 showed up a couple weeks ago. I wanted to tell you all about it sooner, but as you might know if you've been reading here lately I've been dealing with health issues so I've been a little more than preoccupied. But I finally have some time to tell you what I think. And what exactly do I think? I think it's pretty darn cool! I'd never used a Waterpik before, but I'm so glad I have one now. It's been awesome with my broken tooth. I can adjust the water pressure so it's just right and I can get in that tooth and get it all clean. When I'm done using it I feel like my mouth is so much cleaner than regular brushing alone. Seriously, it feels really fresh afterward. The attachments are really easy to put on and take off, yet they stay securely in place while in use. I love the pause button on the side, it's so convenient and totally helps so I don't make a mess. The whole unit isn't very large, so it fits easily on the bathroom counter or if you prefer it's small enough for easy storage in a cabinet or linen closet.
You don't have to just take my opinion on it though, just look at the benefits it has (from the Waterpik website):
* Improves dental hygiene and is clinically proven to be up to 93% more effective than dental floss at improving gum health (Barnes CM et al. J Clin Dent 2005; 16(3); 71-77.)
* Removes bacteria deep between teeth and below the gumline where brushing and flossing will not reach
* Massages and stimulates gums to help prevent gingivitis and improve oral health
* Works with water or your favorite mouthwash
* Leaves a clean, fresh sensation
If you have an oral health nut on your holiday shopping list I would definitely suggest looking into getting them a Waterpik Ultra Dental Water Jet WP-100.

That sounds pretty awesome! Thanks for sharing it!
It sounds neato...I hate flossing!
The '93% more effective' refers to patients with braces.
Patients without braces were not tested - which is why they can get such a ridiculous result.
We had a Waterpik when I was young and I think they are great. Not only for people concerned with gums, but also as a much more effective way of cleaning around braces.
As a final comment, it is worth noting that they were awesome in squirt gun fights as well!
