I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a breakfast person. The thought of eggs, in any form, turns my stomach. On all but a few rare occasions the mere mention of pancakes, waffles and french toast make me want to gag. And don't get me started on sausage, bacon and any other meat served during any AM hour...ick! BUT, I know that breakfast is important and I like cold cereal almost any time of day, thus is it my go-to breakfast nearly every day.Being that cold cereal is my breakfast of choice I was pretty excited to hear that General Mills is reducing the amount of sugar in their cereals marketed to children under 12 years of age to single digit grams. I'm 31, so why is this so exciting to me? Because I'm the mother of two young girls who, because of me, tend to eat a lot of cold cereal in the morning. Plus, it's good for even a mommy like me to eat healthier.
I shouldn't feel bad that I'm not a big fancy breakfast fan, because as simple as cereal is, it's full of benefits including the fact (according to information from General Mills) that cereal tends to have fewer calories than traditional breakfast foods, it's rich in nutrients and can be a leading source of whole grains in a child's diet.
General Mills and MyBlogSpark sent me four coupons so my family could try out some of General Mills' tasty cereals. We're big fans of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, so this was very exciting! This cereal brings back memories from when I was younger. My now deceased grandmother decided it was my favorite cereal and made sure she always had it stocked in her pantry when we'd visit her in Idaho. I'd honestly never tried it before that and sure enough, it became a favorite.
I have good news as well...you can save $1 on one of four different General Mills cereals, just check out the coupon here.
