Rosarita is bringing some spice with their new salsas

For much longer than I've been alive Rosarita has been bringing quality refried beans in many flavors to homes all around. Now they're extending their offerings to include salsas, but, at least for now, you'll have to live in the LA, Dallas, Phoenix and Denver areas to find these three salsas at select Walmart and grocery stores near you. Thanks to Mom Central and Rosarita my family has been enjoying the taste of these new Rosarita salsas for the last week and a half or so.

So, what do we think of these three salsas?

Well, first we tried the Mild Salsa Mexicana. My daughters found it too hot for their liking and I too found it hotter than I expected from a mild salsa. I liked it, but it was definitely spicy. However, it's my husband's favorite of the three salsas.

The next salsa is the Medium Salsa Verde. I love green salsas, but was nervous it would be too hot for my wussy senses. However, I found it to have about the same amount of spice as the Mild Salsa Mexicana so I could totally handle it. This one if my favorite of Rosarita's new salsas. I mixed it in some guacamole to give it a little kick. Another time I mixed it with some mild salsa and sour cream to make a spicy creamy dip for tortilla chips. My husband really liked both of those.

The last of Rosarita's new salsas is the Hot Salsa Taquera. I honestly wasn't daring enough to try this one. As I've said, I'm a total wuss when things get too spicy. So I enlisted my husband to test this one out for me. He put some on his nachos yesterday. He said it was definitely spicy and confirmed I likely wouldn't be able to handle it. So if you're looking looking for a sauce with kick this is the kickiest of the three.

I know Erica, one of the Mom Central ladies, loves using the Salsa Verde to make the following recipe, I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds delicious and similar to something I've made several times before.

Recipe for Chicken Tostadas

Ingredients

* 2 cups of canned Rosarita refried beans
* Rosarita Salsa
* 2 packages tostadas (6-inch diameter)
* 3 cups shredded cooked chicken
* 4 cups shredded iceberg lettuce
* 1 cup Queso Fresco (fresh Mexican cheese)
* 1 large, firm ripe avocado, pared, pitted, sliced
* ½ cup sour cream

Directions

* Heat refried beans
* Spread onto tostadas
* Apply thin layer of shredded chicken
* Top with thin layer of lettuce
* Top with salsa
* Sprinkle cheese/garnish with cream and avocadoes

I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Rosarita and received a sample to facilitate my candid review. Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.

Really, I don't know why one reminded me of the other, but it made me think of the green sauce they always have at Chipotle. I love that stuff
