So I finally saw Avatar...

For weeks (months maybe?) I've been hearing how amazing, outstanding, incredible, wonderful, awe inspiring, fantastic...you pick the adjective...the movie Avatar is. I never once had the desire to go see it. In fact, my husband ended up going to see it with a buddy of his back in December. He is one of the people I've heard all those positive things about it from.

Still...didn't want to see it.

But, yesterday after the Super Bowl my husband and I were hanging out with friends and got to talking about movies and this one friend and I both admitted we hadn't seen it. She, like me, never had a desire to see it (I'm thinking we're difficult or something...lol). My husband suggest she and I go see it today.

Still...didn't want to see it. BUT...how can I pass up the opportunity to have a girls night out??? I can't!

So today, after taking my mom to the airport and going shopping with my family I headed out to finally see Avatar with this friend and another friend...this other friend had already seen it twice and thinks it's AMAZING!

What did I think? I thought it was good, but wasn't blown away. Maybe because I didn't see it in 3D? I don't know. But, I'm not into fantasy stuff like that. It was good, not one I'm dying to go out and see again though.

My friend that now, after going with us tonight, has seen it three times thinks that we don't have hearts. Because the friend who also hadn't seen it had the same reaction as me. Neither of us cried at any of it...when she made the comment that even with this being the 3rd time she's seen it she still cried, we both asked, "when did you cry?" Apparently there are a few sad parts...hmmm...I'm usually the first one to cry in movies...it's embarrassing and I always feel dumb. But there were definitely no tears flowing from my eyes tonight.

Oh well...I'm not normal. I didn't really care for Titanic either and it's another one that everyone and their dog seemed to love.

The bigger excitement was driving home in the snow after the movie. It was a slick drive and I was (still am) FREEZING! I wish we had an electric fireplace that I could warm up in front of because I'm so so so so so so cold! Dang Mother Nature decided to remind us that it's still Winter after spoiling us with 50s for much of the last month or so.

I haven't seen Avatar yet and like you really have no desire to do so. I usually don't like what everyone else does either. I agree with you, I didn't get the hoopla about Titanic and wasn't that into Marley and Me. I think I just have different tastes than most of the world.

Glad you had a fun girls night out though!

The blue people were kinda fake looking to me... hard to get past that. But it was OK...

I didn't have any desire to see it either, but my husband dragged me to the theater a few weeks ago and I begrudgingly put on my 3D glasses to watch a movie that was definitely way too long.
Besides the length of the movie, I thought there were a few flaws in the story line. Overall though, I did enjoy the computer graphics in the movie. It was definitely the best 3D movie I've ever seen because the entire movie was done in 3D, not just little bits here and there.
I am glad I went to see it, if nothing else, at least I know what people are talking about! :-D

Ha ha ha!! It's good to see someone has the same opinion of the movie as me!! I didn't cry, nor could ever see why anyone would. I thought it was good, but I'm not itchin' to see it again anytime soon, nor do I plan on owning it. The end :D

I thought the movie was good, but not phenomenal. I'm not into sci-fi. We saw it in 3-D, maybe that helped?!

I have no interest in seeing Avatar, I don't know it's just not something that looks good to me. I mean it's cool appearing and all that, but no thanks. Although I probably wouldn't pass up a girl's night either, glad you saw it :-) Snow?! We have so little snow in NH this year :-( Well I am not completely frowning, I don't like Winter in NH so a mild one is good for me.
