While we were out of town last week my daughter and I had the opportunity to visit the T.J. Maxx store in my hometown. We went in there looking specifically for a backpack perfect for a new kindergartner. The one pictured to the right was her ultimate choice, but it was chosen after looking at several different options. This one cost $19.99, which was about a mid-range price for their backpacks. They even had some Jansport backpacks, which I know from experience last for a long time, which usually means they cost a lot of money. But the one I was looking at only cost $29.99! And if your kids like character backpacks you're in luck because they had a large selection of them from princesses to Dora (I'm sure they had boy choices too, but, well, I kind of have tunnel vision for girl items because I only have daughters).
Now, we weren't in there to do any clothes shopping, we'd already completed that. But I did take a look at their clothing and found quite a large selection of cute back-to-school clothes that were, of course, at great prices. And all this was at probably the smallest T.J. Maxx store I've ever been to, so just imagine what the bigger stores have to offer!
So how do T.J. Maxx and Marshalls offer such great products at such reasonable prices? Well, the representative I'm working with had this to say on that matter:
With more than 900 stores across the country, there is a great deal of buying power behind both chains that allows a lot of flexibility in negotiating prices. T.J.Maxx and Marshalls buyers also buy merchandise closer to the time it is needed in stores, which opens up opportunities to score great deals on current season styles.
So there you have it, that's how you can score such great deals at T.J. Maxx and Marshalls. So while you're out there getting the last of your back-to-school gear you might want to consider popping into one or both of these stores to see what deals you can find!

That is a really cute book bag. I have been so caught up in summer wrapping up that I totally forgot about TJ Maxx!
