I am a breastfeeding mom. I have breastfed all three of my children. However, with my oldest I was working full-time and even pumping I couldn't keep up with her needs. So my husband and I made the difficult decision to add formula to her diet along with the breast milk. I will admit, I refused to purchase a store brand formula and instead opted for a name brand. We were poor newlyweds, my husband was still in school and my meager salary was pathetic. We definitely felt the pinch in our finances from purchasing formula. I was happily no longer working when my second daughter came along and I was able to breastfeed her on demand for 21 long months. And now, here I sit with a beautiful 11 month old in my lap, fast asleep after a nursing session. But I have a dilemma with her. She wasn't gaining weight fast enough. She was nursing several times a day, eating baby food and a few real foods like avocados and bananas and nothing was working. The doctor suggested PediaSure and adding some formula to her diet. Now, we are making more money than we were nearly 7 years ago when we made the decision to feed our oldest formula, but we've added 2 more kids and we were willing to try out store brand formula for this. And for the sake of honesty, I'll admit, she won't drink it. But she won't drink brand name formula either. The girl just likes her mommy milk...and the PediaSure. She's gaining, so we're not pressing the issue. I'm sure had we started it earlier she might have taken it. But the day the doctor suggested we add formula to her diet I was offered the opportunity to review a formula from Perrigo Nutritionals, the makers of Walmart'a Parent’s Choice, Target's Up & Up, Kroger's Comforts and Sam’s Club's Simply Right brand formulas. I thought this was great, and for others I know it's fantastic because one of you will win some formula and that's awesome!First, here's a little bit of information from the Perrigo Nutritionals “Brand” New Mom Study:
Baby-related advertisements strike an emotional chord with moms – nearly one in four feel overwhelmed (23%) and one in five feel anxious (20%) or confused (20%)For more information on store brand formulas from Perrigo please click here.
53% of moms admit thoughts of their baby product budget plague them on a daily basis
37% of moms feel guilty if they cannot afford a specific product for their babies
Moms are willing to purchase store brand over the counter medicine for their baby (42%) and store brand pharmaceuticals (44%), but only 21% of moms are willing to buy store brand infant formula.
And now, like I mentioned above, one of you will win some formula from Perrigo Nutritionals as well as some promotional items.

I breastfed both my kids to about ten months when they naturally weaned. My son is now drinking formula for a bit to ensure he gets enough vitamins. I will start him on whole milk soon.

I ended up having to use formula for my first 2 so I figure I will for the one I'm about to have, too. One month was the longest I was able to nurse.
